Scuplture Exhibition at Clearwell Caves
Friday 23 May – Sunday 31 August 2025
Summer Exhibition: Back to the Cave – The Full Spectrum
In collaboration with Gallery Pangolin
Sculpture returns to the underground at Clearwell Caves for its second awe-inspiring summer showcase: Back to the Cave – The Full Spectrum. Curated by Rungwe Kingdon and Claude Koenig in collaboration with Gallery Pangolin, this immersive exhibition celebrates colour – inspired by the ochre mined on-site since the Neolithic era.
Set along a 550-metre subterranean route, up to 100ft below ground, the exhibition will feature modern and contemporary works from over fifty British and international artists. Visitors will encounter a series of captivating sculptures, including new site-specific pieces designed to complement the unique, atmospheric surroundings of the ancient iron ore mine.
Featured artists range from post-war masters such as Lynn Chadwick, Geoffrey Clarke, and William Tucker, to celebrated contemporary names including Antony Gormley, Damien Hirst, Sarah Lucas, Polly Morgan, Tavares Strachan, Monira Al Qadiri, Ann Christopher, Merete Rasmussen, and Peter Oloya – with the full artist line-up to be announced shortly.
