World War II Week at the Dean Heritage Centre
Saturday 24 May - Sunday 1 June 2025
From Monday to Friday, families can step back in time with a range of engaging war-time activities this May half term.
Inspired by the moving book Shrapnel Boys: Life on the Home Front, visitors can follow a special indoor trail that explores the everyday experiences of those who lived through the Second World War. Young history enthusiasts will love collecting ration tickets, which can be exchanged for a free war-time flapjack in the Heritage Coffee Shop—a tasty reminder of days gone by.
Activity Timetable (see website for times)
- Monday 26 May: Make & Do for the War Effort
- Tuesday 27 May: Poppy Medallions
- Wednesday 28 Woodland walks - The Forest in Wartime
- Thursday 29 May: Evacuee Classroom
- Friday 30 May: Craft Your Own War Plane
Perfect for families and history lovers, this immersive week promises educational fun and a real taste of the 1940s.
