Just Between Ourselves at the Everyman Theatre

It’s 1976, and Dennis is happily tinkering away in his garage, blissfully unaware of Vera’s looming emotional collapse. In the shadows, Marjorie busies herself with making tea and passive criticism. Meanwhile, Neil has planned a birthday surprise for Pam, but she’s more preoccupied with her own quiet discontent.
Alan Ayckbourn’s sharply observed portrait of suburban life bubbles with repressed emotions and simmering tensions. In one of his most emotionally complex works, the celebrated playwright walks the line between comedy and tragedy, building to a finale that is as hilarious as it is unsettling.
With over ninety plays to his name, Olivier and Tony Award-winning Alan Ayckbourn is one of the most prolific playwrights of our time. His acclaimed works include The Norman Conquests, Relatively Speaking, Bedroom Farce, A Chorus of Disapproval, and Communicating Doors.
Following the success of Absent Friends and Absurd Person Singular, London Classic Theatre marks its 25th anniversary by bringing Ayckbourn’s 1976 masterpiece of domestic comedy and heartbreak to the stage.
