The Talented Mr Ripley at the Everyman Theatre Cheltenham
Thursday 4 - Saturday 13 September 2025
A chilling psychological thriller arrives in Cheltenham this September as The Talented Mr Ripley takes to the Everyman Theatre stage. Set in the dazzling allure of 1950s Italy, this tense and stylish production explores deception, desire, and deadly ambition in a dangerously seductive tale of identity and obsession.
Tom Ripley, portrayed by Ed McVey (The Crown), is a drifter scraping by in New York. When a wealthy man offers him an all-expenses-paid trip to Italy to retrieve his carefree son Dickie Greenleaf—played by Bruce Herbelin-Earle (Free Rein)—Tom sees a chance to reinvent himself. But under the Mediterranean sun, Tom becomes entranced by Dickie’s luxurious lifestyle and irresistible charm. What begins as fascination quickly spirals into obsession, deceit, and murder.
Joining the cast is Maisie Smith—EastEnders star and Strictly Come Dancing finalist—as Marge Sherwood, Dickie’s girlfriend caught in the dangerous web of Tom’s lies.
Based on Patricia Highsmith’s iconic novel, this new stage adaptation captures the elegance and menace of the story that inspired both the Oscar-nominated film and recent Netflix series. With a ten-strong ensemble and a sharp, stylish script, audiences are invited into Ripley’s twisted world—where nothing is quite what it seems.
This gripping production promises a memorable night at the theatre and is a must-see for fans of noir, thrillers, and compelling drama.
Book early for one of the most anticipated nights out in Cheltenham this autumn.
