English Symphony Orchestra: Spring Equinox

Sunday 22 March 2026

Cheltenham Town Hall welcomes the season of renewal with a special spring equinox matinee, brimming with warmth, vitality and lyrical beauty.

The programme opens with the world premiere of David Matthews’s Early Spring, a new work dedicated to the English Symphony Orchestra, capturing the freshness and optimism of the season. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante for Violin and Viola, K364 follows, a radiant masterpiece full of lyricism, charm and joyful interplay between soloists. The concert concludes with Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony No.7 in A major, Op.92, a work bursting with rhythmic energy, exuberant themes and some of the most beloved melodies in the symphonic repertoire.

The performance will be conducted by Kenneth Woods, with soloists Zoe Byers (violin) and Kate Musker (viola) bringing Mozart’s sparkling dialogue to life.

This uplifting matinee promises an unforgettable celebration of spring through three works of brightness, joy and brilliance at Cheltenham Town Hall.
