A festive favourite for all the family, this lively Boxing Day tradition continues to charm audiences year after year. The Gloucestershire Morris invite everyone to join them on Cathedral Green for a fun-filled display of traditional dance and theatre, celebrating one of Gloucestershire’s most beloved seasonal customs.
The Mummers Play has roots stretching back centuries across Britain, and thanks to the passion of local folk music and folklore enthusiasts — many from the Gloucester Folk Club — the ‘Gloucester Mummers Play’ was proudly revived in 1969.
This free outdoor event offers a wonderful way to enjoy Boxing Day in the crisp winter air. No booking is required, and everyone is warmly welcome to join the festivities.
