'Light and Song' - A Recital of English Song Performed by Tenor James Gilchrist

Enjoy an afternoon of live music in Gloucester Cathedral; firstly in the Chapter House we present ‘Light and Song’, a recital of English song performed by the acclaimed tenor James Gilchrist and pianist Ashok Gupta.
The programme explores light and darkness across four centuries, featuring works by composers including Gustav Holst, Imogen Holst, Benjamin Britten, John Dowland, Ralph Vaughan Williams, Madeleine Dring, Rebecca Clarke, Muriel Herbert and Dilys Elwyn-Edwards. Hosted by The Holst Society, the recital includes a mix of familiar favourites and lesser-known gems, offering a richly atmospheric afternoon in one of Gloucester’s most historic settings.
Later the same day, Choral Evensong takes place in the Cathedral from 16:30 and features the young voices of St Benedict’s Singers. All are welcome.
