Thespians: Greece The Musical (But Not That One) | Everyman Theatre Cheltenham
Tuesday 16 – Saturday 20 June 2026
THESPIANS: Greece The Musical (But Not That One) comes to Everyman Theatre Cheltenham from the multi award-winning Mischief team behind The Play That Goes Wrong.
Set in 534 BC, Greece’s smallest island is battling to avoid defeat in a nationwide prayer competition created by a thin-skinned tyrant, where the losing island faces death.
As disaster looms, Thespis accidentally invents acting, giving birth to the world’s first play and the origins of theatre as it is known today.
Ancient Greece bursts into song in this brand-new musical comedy, featuring a thrilling plot, a love story worthy of Aphrodite, and enough laughter to fill the Acropolis. Audiences are invited to step into the amphitheatre and leave modern troubles behind.
Written by Jonathan Sayer and Ed Zanders, this uplifting production is packed with comedy, chaos and choreography, offering a joyful and timely reminder of the power of empathy and storytelling.
