To mark his tenth anniversary year with the superb Cheltenham Bach Choir, David Crown presents three contrasting and thrilling Romantic masterpieces in the magnificent surroundings of Tewkesbury Abbey.
Parry’s Blest Pair of Sirens opens the concert with its glorious orchestration and instantly uplifting choral writing. This celebratory work showcases the full power and richness of choir and orchestra.
Bruckner’s Te Deum follows, widely regarded as one of the composer’s greatest achievements. Profound, dramatic and deeply spiritual, it reflects the religious devotion that shaped Bruckner’s life and music.
The programme concludes with Puccini’s Messa di Gloria, a wonderfully exuberant and operatic work. Audiences who admire Puccini’s operas will recognise his soaring melodies and dramatic flair throughout this vibrant and uplifting masterpiece.
