Outdoor Theatre: Romeo & Juliet at Sudeley Castle

Saurday 1 & Sunday 2 August 2026

The Duke’s Theatre Company brings Shakespeare’s timeless tragedy Romeo and Juliet to the historic grounds of Sudeley Castle in Winchcombe this August.

Directed by Joseph Pitcher, whose acclaimed productions include Gypsy, My Fair Lady and Macbeth, this bold reimagining blends dynamic staging with the enduring power of Shakespeare’s verse. The production also features original music by composer Rob Millett, known for his work with Rambert Dance Company, The Royal Opera House, The National Theatre and Shakespeare’s Globe.

Set against the spectacular backdrop of Sudeley Castle, this vibrant performance explores the passion, peril and youthful intensity at the heart of Shakespeare’s most famous love story. Audiences are invited to rediscover the world’s most iconic star-crossed lovers in a powerful open-air theatre experience in the Cotswolds.

Seating
Seating is not provided. Visitors are advised to bring fold-up garden chairs, camping chairs or blankets. Those using blankets will be asked to sit within the first five metres in front of the stage. The production is supported by a PA system, with each actor individually amplified.

Food and Drink

Picnicking is encouraged before and during the performance, as well as during the interval. Please note, there is no bar or refreshment facility at this venue, so visitors should bring their own food and drink.
