Sherlock Holmes and the Mystery of the Governor’s Nose at Berkeley Castle

Tuesday 25 August 2026

Jenny Wren Productions present Sherlock Holmes and the Mystery of the Governor’s Nose, adapted by Matthew Bassington and Aidan Mosby from two short stories by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.

This comic open-air production follows Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson as they investigate the disappearance of a legendary painting, The Governor’s Nose. As suspicious characters and mysterious forces begin to close in, the famous detective duo must rely on every ounce of wit, deduction and determination to solve the case.

Along the way, they are joined by the ever-reliable Mrs Hudson and the well-meaning but frequently outpaced Detective Lestrade, as the mystery becomes more tangled and the stakes grow higher.

Inspired by The Naval Treaty and The Man with the Twisted Lip, this entertaining new play gives Sherlock Holmes the distinctive Jenny Wren Productions treatment, blending classic detective drama with plenty of humour.

As this is an open-air performance, audiences are encouraged to bring a blanket or chair. Picnics are welcome.
