An evening of Opera at Berkeley Castle

Sunday 19 July 2026

If you are looking for something a little different to do on a summer evening, Wild Arts at Berkeley Castle is a lovely way to relax outdoors.

Returning for a second year, this popular show brings together favourite arias, scenes from opera and songs from classic musicals, performed by four singers and a world-class string quintet.

Semi-staged by director Guido Martin-Brandis, the 75-minute performance is filled with drama, comedy, romance and beautifully performed music. Highlights include the Flower Duet from Lakmé, the overture to William Tell, the Jewel Song from Faust, Anything You Can Do, I Can Do Better and On the Street Where You Live.

Visitors can arrive from 5pm to set up a picnic on the lawn, with time to enjoy the setting before the performance begins at 6pm. There will be a one-hour picnic interval, and the evening is expected to finish at around 8.30pm.

Bring along picnic rugs, chairs, tables and hampers, and settle in for a relaxed summer evening in the beautiful surroundings of Berkeley Castle.

Please note that the performance area is accessed via a number of steps. Visitors are advised to contact Berkeley Castle for further access information.
