The Importance Of Being Earnest at the Everyman Theatre

Tuesday 8 – Saturday 12 September 2026

Classic comedy in Cheltenham – The Importance Of Being Earnest at Everyman Theatre Cheltenham

The Importance Of Being Earnest comes to Everyman Theatre Cheltenham in a sparkling new musical adaptation of Oscar Wilde’s much-loved classic.

Presented by OVO, adapted and directed by Adam Nichols, this stylish 1920s reimagining brings fizzing physical comedy, art-deco design and a live jazz soundtrack to the stage.

Audiences can expect cucumber sandwiches, scandal and mistaken identity as Jack, Algy, Gwendolen and Cecily navigate romance, confusion and society’s obsession with a single name.

With re-scored contemporary chart hits woven through Wilde’s sharp dialogue, The Importance Of Being Earnest promises a witty, romantic and gloriously playful night of theatre in Cheltenham.
