Our Man in Havana comes to Everyman Theatre Cheltenham in a wonderfully funny and fast-moving stage adaptation by Clive Francis, based on the classic novel by Graham Greene.
Set in pre-revolutionary Havana, Cuba, the story follows James Wormold, a British vacuum cleaner salesman struggling to support his demanding daughter. When he is recruited by MI6 agent Hawthorne, Wormold unexpectedly finds himself drawn into the world of espionage.
With no real spy skills and no actual agents to report on, Wormold invents an entire network of fictional informants, sending increasingly absurd reports back to London.
When his imaginary intelligence is taken seriously, the consequences become very real in this hilarious theatrical romp packed with wit, intrigue and comic chaos.
