The Hare Who Wrote the Stars at Clearwell Caves

Saturday 11 July 2026

The Hare Who Wrote the Stars comes to Clearwell Caves for a unique underground performance combining live music, puppetry and Butoh dance.

Created by Volume One Tongue, this original production is the culmination of three years of writing inspired by folk, trip and rock traditions. Set within one of the Forest of Dean's oldest mining networks, the show transforms the atmospheric cave environment into a striking live performance space.

This handmade production brings together a live band, handcrafted puppets and expressive Butoh dance, creating an immersive and unforgettable experience beneath the surface.

As this performance takes place deep within the caves, visitors are advised to wear warm clothing, as temperatures remain cold throughout the year.

The performance begins promptly at 7.30pm. Latecomers will not be admitted once the show has started.

Clearwell Caves is a unique year-round attraction in the Forest of Dean, offering family-friendly underground adventures, fascinating show caves, a café, gift shop, guided tours, special events and free on-site parking.
