Organ Festival Masterclass at Gloucester Cathedral
Sunday 19 July 2026
Wayne Marshall OBE invites visitors behind the scenes of the creative process with a fascinating open organ improvisation masterclass at Gloucester Cathedral.
Held in the Cathedral Quire, this special public session gives audiences the opportunity to watch one of the world's leading musicians work with local organ students, exploring the art of improvisation through expert tuition and live demonstration.
With Wayne Marshall wearing a microphone and live screens providing a close-up view of the organ console, visitors will be able to see and hear every detail as he shares techniques, musical ideas and professional insights. Whether an experienced organist, a music enthusiast or simply curious about the instrument, this is a rare opportunity to experience world-class teaching in action.
This event has been rescheduled from 15 June to 19 July 2026 to allow Gloucester Cathedral's newly installed organ additional time to settle, undergo final tuning and refinement before its official celebration.
No booking is required and admission is free.
