Organ Recital with Adrian Partington at Gloucester Cathedral

Experience the magnificent sound of Gloucester Cathedral’s organ as Adrian Partington, Director of Music at Gloucester Cathedral, performs Elgar’s Organ Sonata in G major.
One of Elgar’s great early works, the monumental Organ Sonata in G major combines rich Romanticism with drama and heroic flair, making full use of the Cathedral’s spectacular acoustics. The programme also features a vibrant selection of works written by Gloucester Cathedral musicians.
The evening begins with a special pre-concert talk from Adrian Partington, offering an insight into the music before the recital.
About Adrian Partington
Adrian Partington has been Director of Music at Gloucester Cathedral since 2007 and has enjoyed a distinguished career as a pianist, organist and conductor.
Educated at the Royal College of Music and King’s College, Cambridge, he has directed six Gloucester Three Choirs Festivals and has served as Artistic Director of the BBC National Chorus of Wales since 1999. His conducting career has included performances with ensembles including the Philharmonia, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and BBC National Orchestra of Wales.
As an international organ soloist, he has recorded twelve solo CDs, performed at the BBC Proms and appeared with orchestras including the Berlin Philharmonic.
