Experience the power, beauty and versatility of Gloucester Cathedral's new organ during this atmospheric Organ Meditation, offering an inspiring hour of music within the Cathedral's breathtaking surroundings.
Taking place at 6.30pm on Tuesday 29 September, the meditation features Neil Cox's evocative Four Ikons of the Archangels, performed by Gloucester Cathedral's Assistant Director of Music, Jonathan Hope.
The atmospheric work journeys through musical portraits of the four archangels – Gabriel, Michael, Raphael and Uriel – showcasing the rich tones and versatility of the Cathedral's magnificent new instrument.
Whether a lifelong lover of sacred music or simply looking for a tranquil way to end the day, visitors can enjoy an hour of inspiring music as twilight settles through the Cathedral nave.
Jonathan Hope is Assistant Director of Music at Gloucester Cathedral and principal organist for Cathedral services. Educated at the Royal College of Music, he is an internationally acclaimed recitalist, improviser and recording artist who performs with leading orchestras and at major festivals across the UK and abroad.
