Blooming Marvellous at Taurus Crafts

The Camphill Village Trust at Taurus Crafts

At the heart of Taurus Crafts and the charity they are a part of, is providing opportunities for the people with mental health and learning disabilities to be a provide the opportunity to develop new skills, build confidence and enable people to participate actively in the community.

A testament to this, budding photographer Oliver has found being creative a therapeutic and rewarding experience and he has his work on display in the café for all to admire or for customers to shop on their online store.

Oliver has been supported by Taurus Crafts, for over 15 years and has turned his hand to many creative activities. In his photographic journey of discovery, he has found interest in a wide variety of subjects and is often found hunting down elusive shots of fauna and flora, near his current workplace at Taurus Crafts.

'I started taking photographs as a way of coping with my anxiety and depression. I wanted to get out and do something rather than be at home and see it get worse.' Oliver Packer

The benefits of being creative are very rewarding as it allows us to relax and unwind by taking the time to use our hands, minds, and energy, which in turns reduces our stress levels and over time improves our quality of life.

‘We are proud to see how far Oliver has come, he has gained a great deal of confidence from doing this. His journey is only just started and we can’t wait to share with everyone what he does next’  Wendy Firkin, Centre Manager.

Oliver’s exhibition is on display until 1st November where you can buy framed works from the exhibition or you can purchase prints from our online store shop.camphillvillagetrust.org.uk alongside other great selection of artisan, handcrafted products and award-winning organic foods produced by the people they support.
