Promoting local artistic talent at the Dean Heritage Centre

At the Dean Heritage Centre (DHC), Soudley from Saturday 22nd November 2014 until Sunday 4th January 2015, local artist Dick Ray will be sharing his delightful new exhibition focusing on a variety of Wye Valley landscapes using oils and pastels.
This charming new exhibition tackles a wide range of contemporary subjects in a figurative style and is well worth a visit to brighten up a wintery day.
Dick lives in the Wye Valley and is a member of the Wye Valley Art Society. He is particularly attracted by structure and atmosphere, and enjoys painting the human figure, portraiture and still life.
Commenting on his artwork, Dick said:
“After a working career in the public and private sectors, I have recently been able to develop an occasional hobby of sketching into a more focused and enthusiastic approach to painting. Some works are painted en plein air but most are developed from sketches undertaken in the field.”
The exhibition includes examples of Dick’s landscapes, portraying a variety of subjects in this locality in different seasons and weather conditions, executed in his preferred media of oils and pastels.
Phillippa Turner, collections officer said:
“The DHC is always looking to promote local talent and we are thrilled to be hosting a solo exhibition by a new artist who has not previously exhibited at the Centre. Dick’s exhibition provides the visitor with a unique view of the Wye Valley throughout the seasons.”
Entry to the exhibition is included in admission to the Dean Heritage Centre.
