'Recycled & Reclaimed' Sculpture Exhibition at the Dean Heritage Centre

Sculptures from salvage “not just a load of old junk”
The team at the Dean Heritage Centre are very pleased to be working in partnership with Arts in the Marches to hold an outdoor sculpture exhibition.
From Friday 14th April to Sunday 4th June, visitors will be able to view the sculptures located around the centre. A special guide will help visitors to find the sculptures and provide information about the artists and the story of their creation. The exhibition will feature work by several local artists and our on-site carvers.
It is an opportunity to come along and view things through different eyes and see the beauty in something that might otherwise have been discarded.
Arts in the Marches is an arts company based in the heart of the Marches; the border lands between Wales and England. It supports artists and craft makers throughout the area by providing marketing and other support to help them improve their promotion and sales.
The company is run by Frances Warren who submitted some of her own work into the Dean Heritage Centre’s Community exhibition last year. As a result of this Frances suggested the idea of an outdoor sculpture exhibition at the Centre to our Education and Audience Engagement Officer, Joanne Clarke who was extremely happy to support the idea.
Joanne Clarke comments, “The Dean Heritage Centre is always happy to find new ways to showcase local artists’ work whether they are established, amateur or just looking for ways to get noticed, we have a unique site which lends itself to celebrating art in all its guises. Using recycled and reclaimed materials to create art and to discover beauty in something destined for destruction is a powerful continuation of the products usefulness and story.”
Entry to this exhibition is included in the general admission price to the Dean Heritage Centre, which is open daily from 10am until 5pm during the summer season.
