Sponsor a Cheltenham Racecourse Gargoyle at Cathedral

Gloucester Cathedral Gargoyle offers unique opportunity to sponsor a Cheltenham themed gargoyle through syndicate.
Gloucester Cathedral, in partnership with Cheltenham Racecourse, is pleased to offer this time-limited opportunity for a group of six individuals to come together to sponsor a Cheltenham themed gargoyle.
At a cost of £3,000 each, you can become proud sponsors of this thematic design, which represents local identity, history and tradition.
The Cheltenham gargoyle is the last of six new gargoyle designs created for the North Ambulatory of the Cathedral in need of sponsorship. All funds raised will help finish the repair project to the North Ambulatory, parts of which date back to the eleventh century. The gargoyles are essential to direct rainwater away from the stone walls, protecting the Cathedral, ensuring it can be enjoyed by generations to come.
The gargoyle design depicts an emotional female jockey, proudly holding the Gold Cup following on from her win.
Pascal Mychalysin, Master Mason at Gloucester Cathedral, said:
“Cheltenham is synonymous with horse racing and the design of the Cheltenham gargoyle was inspired by Bryony Frost who made history as the first female jockey to win a top-level Grade One Cheltenham Festival race.”
Befittingly, we are pleased to be partnering with the Cheltenham Racecourse to encourage donations towards this worthy project.
Matthew Foxton-Duffy, Regional Head of Marketing, The Jockey Club said:
“Cheltenham Racecourse are delighted to be part of the Gargoyle project and excited to see the Cheltenham Jockey in place on the Cathedral.
Cheltenham is renowned the world over as the Home of Jump racing and to be linked in some way is fantastic.”
Each sponsor who commits before the 11th of March will receive in the region of £4,500 worth of horse racing benefits. This will include:
A Cheltenham and South West Syndicate membership which will cover two racing seasons at Cheltenham. This includes:
· Three top trainers in the South West
· A share in all three horses
· Full membership benefits of Cheltenham including The Festival, Exeter, Warwick and Wincanton Racecourses
· An exclusive facility at The Festival™, presented by Magners
· A share in any of the prize money won by the club's horses
· An opportunity to follow each of the horses owned by the club
· Organised stable visits and trips
Additionally, each sponsor will also receive two places at a VIP facility “Special Tiara” on Thursday 12th March 2020.
This facility is not available to purchase and is by invitation only and includes all food and drink plus the opportunity to visit the paddock for selected races with legendary Race horse trainer Michael Dickinson.
Sponsors will also be offered special tours of the Cathedral and masons’ yard at the Cathedral including a scaffolding tour to see the gargoyles up close.
If you are fond of horseracing and would like an opportunity to leave a long lasting legacy on the most significant heritage site in the county please contact the Cathedral’s Philanthropy Manager, Sonia Bielaszewska today.
