Inaugural travel festival rescheduled to January 2024 after sudden venue closure

A Ground breaking new travel festival in Cheltenham which had to be cancelled in November as a result of Cheltenham Borough Council’s sudden closure of Pittville Pump Room for emergency maintenance work is clear to launch in January.
CHELTENHAM, UK (3rd November 2023): Cheltenham’s newest festival, the Cheltenham Travel Festival will now make its debut at the Cheltenham Town Hall on Saturday 6th January 2024.
The inaugural festival was forced to postpone after Pittville Pump Room was closed for emergency maintenance work only days before the festival opened its doors. “We were forced to move the dates as there were just no suitable alternate venues available at such short notice” said festival organiser and travel entrepreneur, Byron Shirto. “However, we are delighted that the new dates, the central location, and larger space at the Town Hall, have given us an opportunity to improve the festival format and ensure visitors looking to escape the post-Christmas winter blues, will find plenty of holiday inspiration.”
Bringing together inspiring speakers, photography masterclasses, and representatives from some of the UK’s top travel companies, the festival will provide plenty of ideas and practical advice for festival visitors’ next travel experience or holiday.
In the evening, the festival will remain open and will host a series of travel talks by some of the world’s most adventurous travel authors, presenters, and content creators.
Visitors to the festival will be able to see the winners and runners-up of the World Travel Photography Awards by JRNY travel magazine and learn about capturing that great image themselves. Kav Dadfar, JRNY’s co-founder and an award-winning travel photographer, says “We’ve had some amazing entries to the competition this year, and we can’t wait to unveil them in Cheltenham. I’m really looking forward to talking to people about my two favourite things: travel and photography.”
Visitors will be able to meet in person some of the UK’s most inspiring travel companies including Steppes Travel, Coral Tree Travel, New Scientist Discovery Tours, Different Japan, Holiday Architects, and Virgin Atlantic Holidays, as well as sustainable rail operator VIA Rail Canada and expedition cruise line, AE Expeditions, amongst others.
The festival is on the 6th January 2024 at the Cheltenham Town Hall, in Cheltenham, further details and tickets are available at www.cheltenhamtravelfestival.com.
Entry to the festival is £6pp and includes free Travel Talks, discounts on holidays, a tote bag with a complimentary copy of the coffee table JRNY magazine worth £10, and a chance to win prizes, including Bradt Guides, travel books and many other travel-related giveaways.
