2008 Christmas Panto at the Everyman in Cheltenham: ALADDIN

Aladdin at the Everyman Theatre in Cheltenham

Who could wish for more? Let the Everyman Theatre be your very own genie and grant your wishes this Christmas with a real festive treat.

The Everyman’s annual family friendly pantomime is back, complete with a fantastic flying carpet, magic tricks, good clean fun and frolics with Wishee Washee and Widow Twankey and of course wishful thinking with the Genie of the Lamp.

Join our hero Aladdin on his journey from rags to riches, defeating the evil Abanazer and winning the heart of the beautiful princess. This is a story of dreams coming true, good overcoming bad, real romance and lots of dirty washing!

The fabulous show features many of the cast from last season’s record-breaking panto – ‘Dick Whittington’ – which was hailed by The Times as “The Best Panto in the West” – and is again directed by Phil Clark and designed by Mick Bearwish.

William Elliot stars as Widow Twankey; Glen Hill as Chief of Police; Mark Roper as Abanazar and Naomi Lee Schulke as Aladdin. Mark Hyde returns, this time as the Emperor. New additions to the cast include Candy Ma as the mischievous Genie and Cheltenham couple Wink Taylor as Wishee Washee and Wendy Abraham as the Princess.

Chief Executive of the Everyman Theatre, Geoffrey Rowe said: “Aladdin is my favourite pantomime because it has a strong storyline and was the first one I ever saw (at the New Theatre, Oxford). Last year was a change in style much more angled to families and with lots of comedy routines. So we will be building on that winning formula.”

So don’t get into a lather, dust off your lamp and book a magic carpet ride to our biggest and best panto yet.

Comic genie-ous!
