Prepare for a thunderous bank holiday weekend of sword-swinging spectacle as Berkeley Castle hosts its Knights’ Tournament Weekend on Sunday 25 and Monday 26 May 2025 – a must-see for families, history lovers, and anyone looking for things to do in Gloucestershire this May.
Set in the glorious historic grounds of Berkeley Castle, the weekend promises a thrilling dive into the age of chivalry, complete with medieval combat, dazzling demonstrations, and living history. Four armoured knights and their loyal squires will engage in full-contact tournaments featuring one-on-one sword battles, dramatic crest melees, and an all-out Grand Melee where just one champion will reign supreme.
Expect dramatic fights, colourful commentary from the event’s Marshall and compere, and plenty of hands-on family entertainment.
Event Highlights:
- 11:00am – Meet & Greet the Knights
Learn about their weapons, armour, and training. - 12:00pm – Archery Competition
Watch the squires compete for glory with longbows. - 1:00pm – One-on-One Sword Fighting
Armoured duels to earn the first points of the day. - 2:30pm – Battle of the Barriers & Crest Melee
Precision and chaos collide in these skill-based clashes. - 4:00pm – Grand Melee Finale
