Star-studded stage thriller comes to Cheltenham this September

Murder at Midnight Brings Chilling Suspense to Cheltenham this September
The premiere stage tour of Murder at Midnight, a brand-new thriller by acclaimed playwright Torben Betts, arrives at the Everyman Theatre, Cheltenham from 23 – 27 September 2025 – offering a truly unforgettable night out in Cheltenham.
Presented by the award-winning Original Theatre, this tense and twisted dark comedy is set to enthral theatre audiences in Cheltenham with its razor-sharp wit and nail-biting suspense. The cast features some of Britain’s most recognised talent: Jason Durr (Heartbeat, Casualty), Susie Blake (Victoria Wood, Coronation Street), and Max Bowden (EastEnders, Birdsong). The production is directed by Philip Franks (The Mousetrap, Murder in the Dark).
Set during a New Year’s Eve party in a lavish Kent mansion, Murder at Midnight explores the chaos that unfolds when a pig-farming drug dealer’s secrets catch up with him. With fireworks overhead, tarot cards spelling doom, and a killer on the loose, guests find themselves trapped in a spiralling web of lies and revelations. As midnight approaches, no one is safe and everyone has something to hide.
Philip Franks calls it “Feydeau rewritten by Tarantino” – a thrilling blend of dark humour and classic suspense. For those seeking top theatre in Cheltenham, this is one of the most exciting Cheltenham events this autumn.
