Spectacle of Light 2025 Review: The Court of King Arthur

An immersive and magical experience at Spectacle of Light 2025 and The Court of King Arthur

We returned to the beautiful and atmospheric grounds of Sudeley Castle to experience this year’s Spectacle of Light, and we found the tenth anniversary to be one of the most enchanting yet. The 2025 theme, The Court of King Arthur, brought an immersive sense of magic to the historic setting, with legendary characters such as Guinevere, Lancelot and Merlin appearing throughout the trail. At the very beginning of the quest, we soon came upon Merlin himself, who drew us in with a flash of magic that set the tone for the adventure ahead.

The illuminated route remains fully accessible, making it suitable for visitors of all ages and abilities. Midway through, guests can warm up with mulled wine or enjoy a range of hot food options. During our visit, the doughnuts were particularly well received — a delightful treat on a crisp evening.

Costumed performers added to the experience, interacting with visitors young and old and helping to bring the Arthurian legend to life. As always, the light installations were spectacular, especially the mesmerising displays across the lake, which created some of the most magical moments of the night.

One highlight was watching children engage with the story, including a 15-month-old grandson who was utterly captivated by the glowing displays. He even attempted to pull King Arthur’s legendary sword from the stone, much to everyone’s delight.

From start to finish, it was a tranquil yet wonderfully immersive evening. We can confidently say that Spectacle of Light at Sudeley Castle continues to impress and truly never disappoints — a magical experience that remains a standout event in the county’s festive calendar.
