New Tourist Information Centre Opens in Cheltenham Town Hall

Tourist Information Centre at Cheltenham Town Hall

Visitors can once again enjoy face to face help planning their stay in Cheltenham as the Tourist Information Centre opens a welcoming new home inside the town’s most iconic venue

A vital service for visitors and residents has returned to the heart of the town as the Tourist Information Centre officially opens inside Cheltenham Town Hall. The move ensures that in person visitor support remains easily accessible in a central and recognisable location, giving people a convenient place to pick up local advice, maps and ideas for enjoying the town.

Open Monday to Saturday, the volunteer run centre provides printed town maps, leaflets, brochures and personalised recommendations to help visitors make the most of their time in Cheltenham and the surrounding area. With more than 1,000 people a month seeking advice and support, the demand for a central in person tourist information service remains clear.

The Cheltenham Tourist Centre was founded by former central Cheltenham bed and breakfast owners Sue Oscroft and Lyndsay Lardner, who created the service to help visitors enjoy a warmer and more informed welcome to the town. It will now operate in partnership with The Cheltenham Trust, with support from Marketing Cheltenham, helping to secure an important service in a well known and accessible location.

“We wanted to ensure Cheltenham did not lose this invaluable service. The popularity of the Tourist Information Centre shows how much people value speaking to someone in person and receiving personalised recommendations for their visit.”

The move also marks the return of in person ticket bookings at Cheltenham Town Hall, giving customers another convenient way to book events directly. Together, the Tourist Information Centre and ticket office create a more welcoming arrival point for visitors, while also helping local people reconnect with one of Cheltenham’s best known venues.
