Host Birthplace Museum Secures Holst Letters
The Holst Birthplace Museum has bought three letters written by the great composer himself which will go on display at the beginning of July. Two are to a fellow composer Katherine Eggar – one inviting her to the first public performance of The Planets in 1918, the other dated 1920 concerns Morley College where he taught. The third letter is to Raymond Bantock, the son of composer Granville Bantock and a fellow keen astrologer. The letters written on delicate paper will be displayed under glass in the museum.
