Gloucester Blues Festival UPDATE
FLOOD UPDATE
Due to the recent flooding damage and loss of water supplies, this
Saturday and Sunday's main stages at the Gloucester International
Rhythm & Blues Festival have had to be cancelled.
The Mike Harrison Band and The Holmes Brothers were scheduled to perform in Gloucester Park on Saturday.
Johnny
Dickinson, The Big Blues Tribe, the Matt Schofield Trio and Sharrie
Williams and the Wiseguys were scheduled to perform in Kings Square on
Sunday.
The free workshops on Wednesday, 1 August, with Michael Roach and Johnny Mars have also been cancelled.
Says
organiser Richard Dennery, much of the festival is designed to take
place in pubs and clubs in the city centre, and landlords will be
taking decisions on whether they can remain open and hold performances.
"We are in touch with them and will put all updated information on the
web site at www.gloucesterblues.co.uk
as well as issuing press releases on an ongoing basis. A decision about
the main events scheduled for next weekend will be taken later this
week or early next week.
"Clearly,
it is a great disappointment not to be able to go ahead this weekend,
but given the on-going impact of the floods to the city's
infrastructure, particularly the water supplies, there was no
alternative."
