BSL Keeper Talks at Birdland & Jurassic Journey
Saturday 6 September 2025
Birdland Park & Gardens in Bourton-on-the-Water is embracing inclusivity with the introduction of British Sign Language (BSL) interpretation during its popular feeding time keeper talks.
On the first Saturday of each month, BSL users can join live interpreted sessions led by qualified interpreters from the Gloucestershire Deaf Association, enhancing the visitor experience for the deaf and hard-of-hearing community.
The initiative is the result of a partnership between Birdland and the Gloucestershire Deaf Association, aimed at ensuring that all visitors, regardless of hearing ability, can engage with and learn about the fascinating birdlife housed at the park.
Birdland is home to over 500 birds across nine acres of beautiful gardens and tranquil woodland beside the River Windrush. Families can:
- Visit England’s only breeding group of King Penguins and meet the comical Humboldt Penguins
- Spot flamingos, pelicans, cranes, and other wetland birds in natural riverside habitats
- Explore the Out of Africa area featuring hornbills and village weavers
- Marvel at the colourful Pandemonium of Parrots in brand-new enclosures
- Wander through the Parliament of Owls and encounter majestic birds of prey
