A King's Return at Sudeley Castle & Gardens
Wednesday 27 & Thursday 28 August 2025
Tudor Encounters | 490 Years Since the Royal Visit
Sudeley Castle invites guests to step into the grandeur and drama of Tudor England as it marks 490 years since the historic visit of King Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn.
Over one spectacular weekend, the castle grounds will be brought vividly to life with live re-enactments, roaming performances, and interactive encounters with key Tudor figures—including Henry VIII, Anne Boleyn, Thomas Cromwell, and their court. Visitors can follow in royal footsteps, meet the King in the Queen’s Garden, and witness scenes of courtly intrigue and etiquette unfold across the estate.
A true highlight of the weekend will be The Kinge’s Musicke, a special concert held in St Mary’s Chapel on Saturday 26 July. Inspired by the Henry VIII Songbook, compiled between 1510 and 1520, this rare performance brings to life 109 early Tudor compositions, some believed to be written by the King himself.
From whispered secrets to soaring music, Tudor Encounters offers a rich, immersive journey through one of England’s most fascinating royal eras—perfect for history lovers and curious minds of all ages.
