Outdoor Theatre: Macbeth at Sudeley Castle & Gardens

Sunday 10 August 2025

The Duke's Theatre Company brings their gripping open-air production of Macbeth to the atmospheric setting of Sudeley Castle. Set against the castle’s historic royal ruins, this bold reinterpretation of Shakespeare's iconic tragedy delivers a powerful theatrical experience beneath the summer skies.

Directed by Robert Shaw Cameron (Coronation Street, Regent's Park Open Air Theatre, Sheffield Crucible) and designed by Jessica Curtis (Hampstead Theatre, Almeida Theatre, Royal National Theatre), the production features a cast of six acclaimed stage actors.

Audiences can expect an intense and contemporary staging that explores the psychological descent of Macbeth and Lady Macbeth. With its fresh vision and visceral energy, this is a standout moment in The Duke's Theatre Company’s touring repertoire—perfect for theatre lovers and fans of open-air performance.

Seating

Seating is not provided. Visitors are advised to bring fold-up garden chairs, camping chairs or blankets. Those using blankets will be asked to sit within the first five metres in front of the stage. The production is supported by a PA system, with each actor individually amplified.

Food and Drink

Picnicking is encouraged before and during the performance, as well as during the interval. Please note, there is no bar or refreshment facility at this venue, so visitors should bring their own food and drink.
