Being Mr Wickham at the Everyman Theatre Cheltenham
Monday 15 - Wednesday 17 September 2025
Mr Wickham is ready to set the record straight.
To mark the 250th anniversary of Jane Austen’s birth, Adrian Lukis, best known for his role in the BBC adaptation of Pride and Prejudice, returns to the stage as the infamous George Wickham.
On the eve of his sixtieth birthday, Mr Wickham reflects on life thirty years after the events of Pride and Prejudice. Audiences will discover his own take on some of literature’s most iconic moments – his true feelings about Darcy, his thoughts on Lizzie, and even tales from Waterloo and encounters with Byron.
Following a successful New York run, this celebrated production comes to London from the award-winning Original Theatre, known for The Interview, Murder In The Dark, Agatha Christie’s The Mirror Crack’d, and Alan Bennett’s The Habit of Art.
★★★★ The Sunday Times – “A fine one-man show”
★★★★ The Daily Mail – “A requiem for a rogue”
Perfect for theatre lovers and fans of classic literature, this witty and revelatory performance offers a fresh perspective on one of Austen’s most notorious characters.
