Eastgate Shopping is a “Super” place to be on Thursdays
Throughout the Summer, the Eastgate Shopping Centre, Gloucester is the place to visit for some of the best children’s entertainment around.
The free Super Thursdays programme of entertainment covers crafts, breakdancing, hula hooping, comedy clowning and puppets – all of which are not only visually enjoyable but children will be invited to take part and join in the activity!
On Thursday, 3 August, children can get creative with Craft Workshops between 11.00am and 4.00pm. Throughout the day, they can let their imaginations run wild and ‘make and take’ crafts relating to Summer and Summer holidays.
On Thursday, 10 August, children visiting the Eastgate Centre will be treated to shows featuring Exception-Elle – an explosive and dynamic duo of female break-dancers.
At 11.30am, 1.00pm and 2.30pm, cheeky and charismatic with a magnificent presence, the girls demonstrate their skills and then invite children to join them in dance workshops.
Exception-Elle are Lauren (Lar) and Olivia.
Lauren started breakdancing after seeing the New York City break-dancers dancing in the subway in the Big Apple. Since then she has become an influential figure in the hip-hop scene.
She specialises in breakdancing, but also teaches lyrical contemporary dance and developmental movement. Lauren’s energetic and charismatic stage presence sets her apart. She has a great sense of fun as well as a physical strength.
She loves being able to pass on what she has learnt and continues to develop herself as a performer and teacher.
Olivia was dancing almost before she was walking! Her passion for dance and gymnastics led her to breakdancing, which she found perfectly combined her explosiveness and artistry.
She performed for many years with Just4 Funk who played a key role in inspiring her to become a b-girl and dance teacher.
“We have a full programme of children’s entertainment this Summer in the Centre,” says Eastgate’s Centre Manager, Jason Robinson”. We have plenty more exciting things for the children to do over coming weeks and hope that local families will come and join in the fun.”
“It is planned that “Super Thursdays” will be a permanent fixture in the Shopping Centre’s calendar and look forward to seeing our young visitors return on Thursdays every school half term and holiday to enjoy the free entertainment.”
