Summer of Creative Opportunities at Taurus Crafts

Taurus Crafts

Taurus Crafts are gearing up to a summer holiday of family-friendly creativity and fun with a programme of activities, outdoor playground, a Summer Fair and delicious food and drink.

The activity programme has become something that the Forest of Dean visitor centre have become renowned for, running them every school holiday for the last 16 years. With safety in mind the activities all happen in accordance with current government guidance. The programme includes pottery painting, clay play, jewellery making, slime, magic shows, and lots more. To plan a visit, it’s really easy to find all of the details on Taurus Crafts Facebook page and website.

What makes Taurus Crafts so special is the ethos behind it all – as part of the Camphill Village Trust, a charity supporting adults with learning disabilities, autism, mental health challenges and complex needs – and they run their shops and café with a mixed ability team providing opportunity for individuals to learn and develop.

The ethics do not end there as the gift shop and home and fashion shop sell fair trade, sustainable, local, and ethically sourced products. As the area’s largest craft centre if you are considering local products there is a diverse range of independent creative businesses on site including jewellery, picture framing, leatherwork, stone carving, antiques & collectibles, health & beauty salon, glass artworks, glass beads and even an award-winning chocolatier.

If the activities and browsing the artisan workshops has given you an appetite Taurus Crafts have got it covered, with their large café serving delicious breakfast baps, light bites, vegan specials and their renowned cakes, bakes and ice creams.

Towards the end of the school summer holiday there will be a celebration of all that is good at Taurus Crafts with their Summer Fair event on the 22nd August. Local cuisine, drink, art, crafts, picnics and live music. Its free entry and looks like a great choice for a family day out.
