Summer of Feathered Fun at Birdland
There’s a summer of feathered fun just waiting to be discovered at Birdland Park and Gardens throughout the school holidays (24th July – 5th September.)
Among the exciting schedule of daily entertainments are penguin, pelican and flamingo feedings.
Visitors can find out all about the different species, what they like to eat, who is the most mischievous of the flock and fascinating insights from Birdland’s team of expert keepers.
The Out of Africa area provides the opportunity to meet a variety of exotic species such as black-cheeked love birds, a colony of village weaver birds, touracos, superb starlings, guinea fowl, exotic ducks and the bizarre-looking ground hornbills.
Located in the heart of the beautiful Cotswolds, the park’s magical combination of wildlife, woodland, riverside and gardens makes it the perfect summer day out.
Birdland cares for more than 500 birds, ranging from the England’s only breeding colony of king penguins and awesome birds of prey to parrots, cassowaries and cranes in a mix of free-flying and aviary displays.
It’s not just birds at Birdland - Prehistoric adventures await intrepid explorers and those brave enough to venture into the Jurassic Journey.
Spot species including T-Rex and brachiosaurus through the trees and look up high in to the canopies for a glimpse of the pterodactyls flying above.
“A summer’s day out in beautiful Bourton-on-the-Water is a must for families visiting the Cotswolds and there aren’t many other villages where you can also spot penguins and come face to face with a host of exotic bird life from across the globe,” said Birdland Manager, Simon Blackwell.
Guests to Birdland can pack a picnic to enjoy after visiting the parrots or enjoy a slice of cake and hot drink in the Flamingo Point Café this summer.
Perched on the River Windrush the café serves up delicious treats where visitors can enjoy the spectacle of the park’s flamboyance of flamingos.
Birdland Park and Gardens is open daily from 10am throughout the summer holidays and tickets should be booked online in advance.
