Great days out in the Cotswolds: Birdland Park & Gardens

Birdland Cotswolds

Birdland brings a brand new feast of family fun for 2024

Experience the quintessential charm of the Cotswolds with a visit to the picturesque village of Bourton-on-the-Water.

Its idyllic honey-colored cottages and quaint bridges over the serene River Windrush make it a must-visit destination for travelers seeking a tranquil escape. But the adventure doesn't end there!

Step into the wild wonderland of Birdland Park & Gardens, where feathery encounters await around every corner.

Immerse yourself in the captivating world of birds as you stroll through lush gardens and aviaries teeming with life. From the only group of King Penguins in England to colorful parrots, there's a winged wonder for every nature enthusiast to admire.

Join Spike and the other colony of King Penguins and their Humboldt feathery friends

Birdland Park & Gardens, which is home to the world’s Most Popular Penguin, will stage a series of special events to showcase its fantastic variety of feathered friends this year.

Resident celebrity Spike the Penguin, who won the coveted world title last year, is just one of the star attractions at the Gloucestershire park, alongside parrots, cassowaries, cranes, flamingos and many more at the beautiful location in Bourton-on-the-Water.

Feathered mums will be celebrated in March to mark Mother’s Day, before April will see some cracking Easter fun including egg-themed talks and shows, a quiz trail and possibly some egg-stra special arrivals at the park.

The events come thick and fast in the warmer months, including a Penguin Celebration and Birds Behaving Badly.

October Half Term will be ‘Trick or Tweet Week’ – With a myths and legends theme, discover why owls are considered to be so wise; where the legend of the phoenix came from; and find out which bird call the Romans believed to mean imminent death!

Discover more than 50 habitats set in nine acres of beautiful woodland and journey through the world’ most fascinating surroundings. Out of Africa, Parrot Pandemonium, Penguin Shore and the Desert House show how their residents live in the wild and the work done carried out at the park to help conservation of their species.

But the excitement doesn't stop with the avian attractions. Birdland Park & Gardens offers a delightful array of activities and experiences for visitors of all ages. Get up close and personal with birds of prey during thrilling falconry displays, or embark on a journey through time with a visit to the Jurassic Journey—an immersive exhibit where dinosaurs lurk in wait for your arrival!

Birdland Park & Gardens also has a fantastic new café The Nest, which was officially opened late last year by rugby World Cup winner Phil Vickery. The 47-year-old now works for food service company Creed, which supplies the café with a mouthwatering selection of hot and cold options. There is a daily selection of mouthwatering sandwiches and salads or for something warmer during the winter months, there is the chance to load your choice of potato or rice with tasty toppings including pulled pork, beef chilli or halloumi.

For those who haven't visited Birdland Park & Gardens recently, there's exciting news! Over the winter, a brand-new toilet block has been constructed. Featuring spacious facilities, including state-of-the-art amenities for disabled visitors, as well as a fantastic baby changing facility, this addition enhances the overall visitor experience at Birdland Park & Gardens in the Cotswolds.
