Award winning garden will open come rain or shine at WWT Slimbridge

WWT Slimbridge

An innovative show garden, which harvests rain water, will open to the public on Wednesday August 24 at WWT Slimbridge Wetland Centre.

The RBC Rain Garden, which received a silver gilt award when it appeared as the RBC New Wild Garden at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show in May, will be a permanent feature at the attraction in Gloucestershire.

There it will educate and inspire visitors in how to garden in a sustainable fashion to limit the effects of flooding and drought.

The garden, which was designed by Dr Nigel Dunnett, features a building made from a recycled shipping container with a living roof, as well as habitat walls and ponds.

RBC (Royal Bank of Canada) has donated the show garden to WWT Slimbridge as part of the RBC Blue Water Project, a wide-ranging, 10-year global commitment to help protect the world’s fresh water resources.
