Giant Insects Spotted in the Forest of Dean!

Events in Gloucestershire

The Dean Heritage Centre (DHC) is delighted to announce the opening of its brand new monster trail being launched at October half term, just in time for Halloween.

Visitors will also be able to take part in ghoulish indoor trails and craft activities as the centre gets spooky for half term.

Thanks to £2000 funding from the New Grove Trust and sponsorship from VW Dealers; Apex Architecture; GlaxoSmithKline and Fairfield Maybe, the Centre has been able to install a new permanent walking trail, featuring six monster size wooden creatures, set across the five acre woodland site, situated in Soudley.

The creatures have been created by onsite chainsaw carver, Clayton Ryder, with the help of centre volunteers. Centre Manager, Nathalie Hall said: “We are extremely grateful to the New Grove Trust and the local businesses that have kindly supported our Monster trail as without them it would not have been possible. We are still looking for sponsors in order to light the trail so that next year we can go bigger and better and open a floodlit evening trail next Halloween.”

Anybody who would be interested in sponsoring this or any other project at the DHC can contact Nathalie Hall: Nathalie@deanheritagecentre.com or 01594 822170.

Exciting events coming up at the DHC soon include ‘Meet the Gruffalo’ on the 20th and 21st of October, the Big Draw event throughout October half term, as well as Father Christmas and two of his reindeer during Christmas 2012. Visit www.deanheritagecentre.com for further information.
