Gloucester Life Museum celebrates prestigious Gloucester Motorcycle brand

A collection of the finest Cotton Motorcycles will be on display at the annual rally at the Life Museum on Saturday 19th August from 11am onwards.
Members of the Cotton Owners Club will bring their precious motorbikes and display them in the grounds of the Life Museum right on the spot where the factory used to be.
Cotton Motorcycles were made in a factory that used to sit on the grounds of the car park directly behind the Museum on Westgate Street. The company traded from 1918 until 1980 before moving to a new site. The Cotton Motorcycle club have held an annual rally at the City centre site to celebrate this amazing locally made bike.
The Cotton name was first made famous in the 1920s following Stanley Woods success in the Isle of Man T.T race using the famous lightweight triangulated frame designed by Frank Willoughby Cotton.
This is a perfect opportunity for local enthusiasts to see a broad selection of locally made Cotton motorcycles ranging from the 1920s to the 1970s. The machines will assemble in the yard at the rear of the Museum, with some being ridden in on the day.
The event is held in the museum garden which is FREE to access, entry to the Museum galleries requires admission or a valid museum membership.
