Enjoy ‘Tea on the Green’ at Gloucester Cathedral accompanied by the Gloucester Strings Ukulele Club

The Monk’s Kitchen at Gloucester Cathedral is teaming up with the brilliant Gloucester Strings Ukulele Club to offer you a unique dining experience. Come and listen to them play on Saturday 21 August, whilst treating yourself to a delicious ‘Tea on the Green’ freshly prepared by The Monk’s Kitchen Team. This is a boxed version of their hugely popular afternoon tea, featuring all the usual favourites.
The Gloucester Strings Ukulele Club will play two sets with the first at 2pm-2.45pm and another at 3pm-3.45pm. They will perform outside the West Slype   located at the West End of the Cathedral while you enjoy your afternoon tea on the picnic tables nearby or you can bring a picnic blanket and find a sunny spot on Lower College Green.
‘Tea on the Green’ includes a sandwich of your choice (ham, cheese, egg or tuna), either a fruit or plain scone with strawberry or raspberry jam, and a slice of traybake with options that vary day-to-day. You can choose a hot or cold drink to go with it. ‘Tea on the Green’ costs £9.50, and gluten free options are available.
The Monk’s Kitchen will be taking pre-orders for collection before 2pm, with payment taken on collection. Orders must be phoned through to The Monk’s Kitchen. Please call: 01452 689755 to place your order.
If the weather is poor on the day the event may be postponed to a later date and The Monk’s Kitchen will honour any pre-bookings (providing you can make the revised date). Let’s hope for a lovely sunny day!
Later that day, a performance of Jenny Wren Production's The Railway Children will be taking place in the Cloister Garth. Why not make a day of it and treat yourself to ‘Tea on the Green’ before experiencing some outdoor theatre that all the family can enjoy? With live music, tales of community and unexpected friendships, acts of bravery and red petticoats, The Railway Children is a fun-filled show celebrating the joy of being together. The perfect antidote to the last year. More details can be found on the website (via the link below).
Gloucester Cathedral look forward to welcoming you and hope you enjoy a fabulous family day out at your Cathedral.
