First Look: The Last Five Years Opens in Reading, Cirencester and Bath
First Look: Production Images Released for The Last Five Years
The Barn Theatre in Cirencester takes centre stage this autumn as it welcomes the acclaimed revival of Jason Robert Brown’s The Last Five Years, running from Friday 17 October – Saturday 15 November 2025.
The new production is a collaboration between The Barn Theatre, Reading Rep Theatre and Theatre Royal Bath, with performances opening first at Reading Rep Theatre until Saturday 11 October, before moving to the Barn in Cirencester. The final stop will be the Ustinov Studio at Theatre Royal Bath, from Tuesday 25 November – Saturday 3 January.
Starring Martha Kirby (Club NVRLND, Evita) as Cathy and Guy Woolf (The Cher Show, As You Like It) as Jamie, The Last Five Years explores the highs and lows of a relationship through a unique storytelling structure — Cathy’s perspective told in reverse and Jamie’s unfolding chronologically.
Director Hal Chambers, who has long admired the work of Tony Award-winning Jason Robert Brown, brings together a top creative team to deliver what promises to be an intimate, heartfelt and unforgettable production.
Hal Chambers said: “I’ve wanted to direct The Last Five Years for over twenty years… The music is breath-taking - joyful, witty, devastating - and I can’t wait to bring it to life with our cast. Performed in intimate venues, our vision promises a deeply personal and emotionally resonant Last Five Years that captures the show’s unique intimacy and power.”
