Annie at The Everyman Cheltenham

Claire Sweeney lands in Cheltenham as Annie UK tour arrives at The Everyman Theatre

Big touring musicals have a way of turning an ordinary week into a proper occasion, and autumn 2026 is set to bring exactly that buzz to Cheltenham. With audiences looking for feel-good nights out, classic titles and familiar songs remain a huge draw, especially when they arrive with a full-scale company, fresh casting, and the kind of production values that make the theatre feel larger than life.

Coming to The Everyman Theatre, Cheltenham from 6 to 11 October 2026, the UK and Ireland tour of Annie promises a bold, uplifting story that has stayed loved for generations. Set against the backdrop of 1930s New York, the musical balances warmth, humour, and heart, while delivering the sort of toe-tapping moments that audiences leave humming all the way home.

Claire Sweeney is confirmed to play Miss Hannigan in Cheltenham, bringing major stage and screen pedigree to one of musical theatre’s most memorable roles. She is set to star alongside Alex Bourne as Oliver Warbucks, with Tanisha-Mae Brown as Grace Farrell, Christian Cooper as Rooster, and Amber Kennedy as Lily St. Regis, supported by a full touring cast.

With a Tony award-winning book and score, audiences can expect standout songs including It’s the Hard Knock Life, Easy Street and Tomorrow. The production is directed by Nikolai Foster with choreography by Nick Winston, design by Colin Richmond, lighting by Ben Cracknell, and sound design by Richard Brooker, and is produced by Michael Harrison and David Ian.
