Texas announce Westonbirt concert date
Texas are the latest act to announce their participation in this year's Forestry Commission Live Music where bands perform each summer in spectacular woodland locations around the country.
Since taking their name from the movie, 'Paris Texas', the band became mainstays of the UK charts with a string of hits including 'I Don't Want A Lover', 'Say What You Want', 'Black Eyed Boy', 'In Our Lifetime', 'In Demand', 'Inner Smile', 'Getaway', 'Halo', 'Carnival Girl' and 'Summer Son'. Classic albums like 'Southside', 'White On Blonde' and 'The Hush' have ensured their presence among the multi-million-selling album elite while the song-writing duo of singer Sharleen Spiteri and bassist Johnny McElhone have won a prestigious Ivor Novello Award for their back catalogue.
Commenting on the show, Sharleen Spiteri for Texas said "I love forests, they are a national treasure. We can't wait to perform all our hits at Westonbirt Arboretum this Summer."
Forestry Commission Live Music pays for itself and any profit generated goes back into improving woodlands for both wildlife and the public to enjoy.
