Burford – Gateway to the Cotswolds
Often called ‘the gateway to the Cotswolds’, Burford sits on the River Windrush and was first mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086.
This medieval market town prospered through trade thanks to its position at key crossroads, later regaining popularity with the arrival of the motor car. Today, Burford is loved for its history, charming High Street, and variety of independent shops and eateries.
