The Municipal Building Cheltenham

The Municipal Building in Cheltenham, officially known as the Municipal Offices, stands prominently on the Promenade and serves as the headquarters of Cheltenham Borough Council.

Completed in 1902, the building reflects the town’s late Victorian and Edwardian civic pride. Its grand stone façade, decorative detailing and formal symmetry were designed to project confidence and authority at a time when Cheltenham was firmly established as a prosperous and refined town.

Positioned close to Royal Well and the Promenade gardens, the Municipal Offices form part of Cheltenham’s impressive civic quarter. The architecture complements the surrounding Regency terraces while introducing a slightly later, more robust civic style.

Today, the building remains an important administrative centre and a key landmark within Cheltenham’s historic core, reinforcing the town’s reputation for architectural elegance and continuity.
