Early signs of spring at Batsford Arboretum

Despite harsh weather conditions during December and January, Batsford Arboretum are experiencing early signs of spring, providing a glimmer of hope that warmer temperatures and longer days are on the horizon!
Visitors to the 56 acre Arboretum, near Moreton in Marsh, can expect to see coppery-orange Hamamelis x intermedia 'Jelena' (witch hazel), pink and white flowers of Daphne bholua 'Jacqueline Postill' and the highly-fragrant Chimonanthus praecox (wintersweet). Early-flowering daffodils ‘January Gold’, Galanthus woronowii (giant snowdrop) and Cyclamen coum are also in flower, making the Arboretum feel particularly spring-like.
A real early spring highlight at Batsford is the magnificent swathes of snowdrops which typically reach their peak during February, however some parts of the Arboretum are already showing signs of a good display by the end of this month, a little earlier than usual.
More information about Batsford, including up-to-date information on the snowdrops, is available from www.batsarb.co.uk.
