The 2023 pantomime at the Everyman Theatre bursts onto the Cheltenham stage in an explosion of colour, tradition and slapstick humour. This year, 'Tweedy' steals the spotlight in a new role as the Dame, portraying Mother Goose with an astonishingly executed performance that's a a sight to behold and a treat for all ages.

Set against the backdrop of Piddlyplop Farm, this whimsical tale introduces Mother Goose and her two sons, 'Caleb' and 'Clarkson', in a clever nod to a nearby farm. Love interest appears in the form of 'Just Jo' and her unique goose who provide the answers to the misfortunes that have fallen upon the farm.

Children and adults alike were captivated by 'Bob', the puppet monkey, who became the subject of subtly cheeky jokes that left parents trying to stifle their laughter without drawing their kids' attention.

Of course there’s a villain involved - 'The Demon Vanity' has plans of her own for the golden egg laying bird and the naive Mother Goose is coerced into parting with her saviour in return for youth and her beloved circus. Queue Tweedy in his hilarious trapeze routine.

Throughout the performance, the stage is alive with vibrant very sparkly costumes, catchy tunes, and energetic dances, creating a visually stunning spectacle. Ultimately you can always rely on the (also very sparkly) 'Good Fairy of Gloucestershire' to steer the show back on track to its expected and heartwarming 'Happy Ever After' conclusion.

Tweedy undeniably shines as the linchpin of the show, effortlessly balancing the production with his signature humour, ad-lib comments, and unique charm, keeping audiences of all ages engaged and delighted from start to finish. With its fast-paced whirlwind of entertainment, Mother Goose promises an unforgettable experience for families and panto fans alike.

The pantomime Mother Goose continues to grace the stage until 7 January, beckoning all to immerse themselves in this enchanting world of laughter, tradition, and timeless seasonal storytelling at The Everyman Theatre in Cheltenham.
