Everyman Theatre Celebrates Back-to-Back Community Award Win and Reveals Expansion Plans

“This award is a celebration of everyone involved in our mission to make theatre a welcoming and accessible space for everyone.”

Cheltenham’s Everyman Theatre has once again taken centre stage after winning the Circle 2 Success Community Award for the second consecutive year. The accolade, presented at the C2S South West Business Awards 2025, recognises the theatre’s wide-reaching education and community work, alongside its commitment to inclusivity and access to the arts.

Amid a record-breaking 300+ entries and an expert judging panel of over 40, the theatre stood out in one of the most competitive award years to date. Sponsored by Caring For Communities and People (CCP), the Community Award highlights the Everyman’s innovative and collaborative efforts across Gloucestershire.

Current community partnerships include National Star College, Sue Ryder, Nelson’s Trust Women’s Centre, No Child Left Behind, and Gloucestershire Young Carers, as well as an expanding network of local schools. Notably, the theatre’s Golden Voices choir offers uplifting monthly sessions for individuals living with dementia and their families.

The Everyman Youth Theatre, now with over 150 members, continues to grow, supported by a fully funded bursary scheme ensuring that no young person is excluded due to financial barriers. Further innovation comes through the ‘Drama for English’ project with Cheltenham Welcomes Refugees (CWR) and Gloucestershire Action for Refugees and Asylum Seekers (GARAS) – helping participants gain confidence and language skills through theatre.

Jessica Price, Head of Education and Community, remarked: “The award is a wonderful recognition of the hard work and dedication shown by our Education and Community team.” Mark Goucher, Chief Executive of the Everyman Theatre, added that the theatre’s mission is only just beginning, hinting at an exciting new development set to expand their community reach even further.
